The 4th Infantry Division came ashore here at half past six on the morning of 6 June, about two thousand yards south of where they were meant to. It turned out to be the luckiest error of the day: that stretch was thinly held, and they got off the beach at a fraction of the cost paid at Omaha a few miles east.
