Two Boats, Montjean-sur-Loire

I took the wrong road to Montjean-sur-Loire. The right road would have taken me past the bridge and into the village via the square. The wrong road dropped me onto the quayside just as the light changed — flat, grey, the kind of afternoon that makes film think harder than it needs to.

The old flat-bottomed boat was there on the sand, and behind it a small sailboat had anchored in the current. The Loire moved past both of them with complete indifference. Two boats, one working and one resting, and about four miles of flat Anjou behind them.

I had the Canon 6D with me and spent an hour on that quay making wrong-road things look right. This is the frame I kept.
