Basilique Saint-Donatien at Night

The street outside the Basilique Saint-Donatien is ordinary by day — a car park, a bus stop, the usual Nantes indifference. At night, something lifts.

I was walking back from a concert, Fujifilm X100F in hand, when the twin towers stopped me. Against the black sky they burned a deep crimson, the kind of red that has nothing to do with floodlights and everything to do with how a camera sees heat and darkness together. I stood there longer than I needed to. Shot after shot, each one slightly different, until the frame settled into itself. This is the one.
