Anilore Banon's steel sculpture stands on the sand at Vierville-sur-Mer, where the 1st and 29th Infantry Divisions came ashore on 6 June 1944. It was unveiled on the sixtieth anniversary and is made of three parts — the Wings of Hope, Rise Freedom, and the Wings of Fraternity. Steel where they came ashore, and the sky doing most of the work.
