IJM on the Streets — Nantes (eBook)
Nantes — a decade of sitting down with a camera.
There is a way you are supposed to do street photography. Move fast, stay invisible, hunt the decisive moment. After ten years of photographing one French city, I can report that almost none of it applies to me.
This book is the other method: find the spot, sit down, order the coffee, and let the place come to you. Nine chapters through the streets, squares and gardens of Nantes — the Bouffay at night, the empty Cafés Richard espresso cup, the café above the weir at the Chaussée des Moines, two seasons at the Jardin Extraordinaire, a year of waiting outside the cathedral, and the Île de Nantes with a seven-year-old and her Olympus Trip 35.
Shot on film between 2016 and 2026 — Ilford HP5+, Pan 100, Kentmere 400, Rollei RPX 400 and AGFA APX 100 — developed at home, imperfections kept in.
