The lifting bridge at Bénouville seen from underneath — all counterweight and rivets.
The original was taken in the first minutes of 6 June 1944 by three gliders carrying D Company of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry under Major John Howard — the first Allied action of the day. That bridge now stands in the museum park, still marked by the fighting. This is the one that replaced it in 1994, and it is still a working road bridge.
Pegasus Bridge, Bénouville, Normandy. August 2019. Canon 6D Mark II, 16–35mm.
Printed at 30 × 45 cm through WhiteWall in Berlin. Choose Ilford or Baryta paper, as a plain print or framed — what the finishes actually mean.
