A Crew

Five headstones of the 22nd Dragoons, Royal Armoured Corps, standing together. Every one of them carries the same date.

They were a tank crew. Something happened to their tank on 8 August 1944 and it happened to all of them at once, and they were buried the way they worked. It is the only run of graves here where you can read the shape of a single moment straight off the stone.

Nothing else in the row tells you anything. This one tells you everything.
