At low tide the estuary exposes itself — salt marsh, tidal channels, the cold mud of the North Sea coast, a sailboat waiting at anchor for the water to return.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI was walking the margins of the village with the Nikon FE and a roll of HP5+, not looking for anything in particular, which is usually when the light does something useful. From the fields inland it is barely a hill at all. But the cloud that afternoon came up over it in one bright stack, hard-edged on top and dissolving underneath, and the grain in the film did the rest.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt is a photograph of weather with a village in it.
