Pointe du Hoc at twenty to four, Sainte-Mère-Église at half past five, Utah Beach just after seven.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThese photographs are not really about the landings. Three parts: the wings of hope, rise freedom, the wings of fraternity. In practice it is a large piece of steel on an enormous empty beach, and the beach wins.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThat is not a criticism of the sculpture.
